Our weekend started with an enjoyable meal on Friday night at the Royal Oak in Keswick. The food was excellent and with the restaurant being dog-friendly Billy was able to join us for the meal.
We were up bright and early on Saturday morning to catch the launch across Derwentwater to Hawes End, the start of our walk up Cat Bells. Alfred Wainwright said of Cat Bells - "It is one of the great favourites, a family fell where grandmothers and infants can climb the heights together, a place beloved". On the way up some of our party may not have agreed with the late Mr Wainwright but on reaching the summit everyone agreed the effort was well worth it for the views and the sense of achievement.
