FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We have tried to provide answers to the most commonly asked questions, if you have more specific questions then please call, email or just come along to one of the lessons and see for yourself how much fun you can have dancing Cuban salsa.
I don't have a partner, will I need one?
No, salsa is a very social dance, we rotate partners every few minutes and you’ll soon get to know everyone in the class.
I'm a complete begineer will I be able to pick it up?
Yes, if you can walk on the spot alternating your feet from left to right you can learn to dance salsa. Our courses are structured so you learn the basic steps and timing for the first few weeks before progressing further.
Do I need special shoes?
No, although trainers with rubber soles are best avoided as your feet could stick to the floor when turning. Comfortable shoes with smooth soles and low heels are best. Specialist dance shoes and trainers are available from online stores for both men and women and do add to the enjoyment of salsa dancing.
What should I wear?
Wear light comfortable casual clothes
I thought I had two left feet but everyone at Havana Dance were great and by the end of the night I was dancing and now I can't stop!
